| The
Azle Volunteer Fire Department was unofficially started in 1947 by the Azle
Civic League, and then was chartered on June 28, 1951. The Azle Civic league
had one purposes when it originated. 1. Provide a fire truck. The initial
list had 65 members who donated $2.50 to $3.00 each. The civic league acquired
an additional 237 donations to purchase a fire truck. The first fire truck
was purchased by the Civic League on April 3, 1948 from Steve Cook Motor
Company in Fort Worth, The truck was then outfitted with all of the supplies
needed to fight fire from Leonard’s Brothers. The total cost was $4,569.19.
Currently the Azle Fire Department protects about 30,000 people and covers 9 to 10 square miles of city limits and approximately 20 square miles of county area. In previous years, the Azle Fire Department responded to approximately 2400 calls. The City of Azle is located in the Northwest corner of Tarrant County. We also have some response area in Parker County. We currently respond out of one station located at 613 South East Parkway. We work the normal fire department schedule, 24 hours on and 48 hours off. The Azle Fire
Department consists of one Fire Chief, Fire Marshal, three Lieutenants,
twelve Firefighters and fifteen Volunteers. |
